This procedure is performed on patients young and old alike with ears that stick out far from their head. It can be done on a patient starting at age 6-7 depending on their tolerance, as long as the patient themselves is interested in having the procedure done, as the patient needs to be involved in the post op care. Depending on the complexity of the case and age, it can be performed in the office or in the OR. After the procedure you will have to wear a head wrap that protects the ears and keep them dry for a period of time.
If you have one or both lobes with a long, stretched out piercing hole or previously had gauged ears, you can have them repaired in a simple procedure in the office. Dr. Compton performs this procedure after injecting the ear lobe/s with local anesthetic. A small area around the torn skin is cut away then sutured together which will heal into an almost imperceptible scar. Re-piercing can be done in the office 6-8 weeks after repair.
Dr. Compton performs this procedure in the office in a 1-2 hour procedure using local anesthesia. The procedure itself is painless and you will be consulted during the procedure to be sure the desired shape is obtained.
Dr. Compton uses a standard piercing gun to make a hole in each lobe after marking and verifying the placement. All earrings are stainless steel, silver or gold plated posts. Ear cleaning solution and detailed instructions are provided at your visit for aftercare.

"Dr. Compton and everyone in the office is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I went in to repair a deviated septum and a few months later have a new nose (Dr. Compton recommended a tip reconstruction, and later, a different and less invasive procedure to clear airways, further). We are still watching the effects of the airway procedure, as I may need further clearing....time will tell and I appreciate his openness in letting me know this (I tend to react and want immediate results). Thank you to all involved."
