Submental liposuction is a surgical procedure during which a small incision is made under the chin and behind the earlobes through which a small cannula is introduced. As suction is applied through the cannula, the fat is broken apart and removed mechanically. This is a very effective way of removing isolated pockets of fat and sculpting the chin, jawline and upper neck.
Liposuction is a surgical procedure so there is some downtime, typically 1 week or less depending on the amount of fat and age of patient in which it is removed. Liposuction as a standalone treatment is appropriate for younger patients without much skin and soft tissue laxity. For those patients with laxity, it is a great addition to a face or neck lift to provide that improved result.

"I had the liposuction done right in the office! After the numbing injections, I truly felt no pain, and after a week of wearing a wrap to reduce swelling, I have a whole new neck and chin! The difference is truly amazing and looks completely natural."
